ArtFest Mountains’18, a highly anticipated festival which took place in The Lost Tribe Hostels at Manali, turned out be very successful and productive for the artists who took out the time to become a part of this collaborative initiative between “The Lost Tribe Hostels ” & “Platform For Artists”. The festival took place for 3 days from 25th-27th May and was attended by 38 artists from different parts of the country and various artistic inclinations.
The whole purpose of the festival was to promote local culture and tourism through art by collaborating with various talents from all over India under the leadership of talents like Ritu Arya, Disha Deshpande and Meet Rao.
Let’s talk about what all happened in those 3 days:
DAY 1: First day started off with all the artists introducing themselves followed by an “Artist Pair-up” game, where two artists wh0 come from different art forms to pair-up and create something unique or share some ideas where they can combine their respective expertise. The idea did what it was supposed to do and people did come up with interesting creations and ideas.
The game was followed by a session by Ritu Arya, who shared few tips on presenting art on Social platforms and it turned out to be both productive and interactive.
DAY 2: Manali is blessed with breathtaking views and to put this to their advantage, the creators went to attend a relaxing yoga session headed by Disha Deshpande of Swatiastu Yoga, in the morning. This session was followed by another round of group collaborations and later in the evening everybody got a chance to let loose and party hard at a local lounge & bar, “Alchemy”.
DAY 3: The final day’s agenda was to relax and begin the day with YogArt by Disha Deshpande with psychedelic music by a young music composer from the attending artists as the backdrop. Other activities involved some whacky games like Shield & Bomb, finally culminating in one group project to create wall graffiti using the hostel as the canvas.
Words by Organizers:
Stuti Ashok Gupta – Entrepreneur, Writer and Psychotherapist and Co-Founder of The Lost Tribe Hostels says, “The Art Festival was started as an informal gathering of friends and guests to create collaborative art at the hostel. With Platform for Artists by our side, and the support of our partners OneHimachal, Himalayan Geographic, The Optimist Citizen, and Entrepreneurs of India were able to gather talented young souls from across the country.
Kshitija Sarda, Co-Founder of Platform For Artists added, “We are thrilled by the enthusiasm and response from creative minds across the country in the ArtFest Mountains’18. We strive to provide an authentic platform for artists of all genres to connect, collaborate and create for the benefit of the mind and soul, with a silver lining of networking.
As the name suggests, Onehimachal is meant to promote Himachal Pradesh and its various aspects to its full potential. Collaborating with “The Lost Tribe Hostels” for Art Festival gave us the opportunity to do something in that direction. We tried to influence our followers to visit Manali and witness the beauty of this town while they exercise their artistic talents. We are proud of the fact that a lot of people from different parts of India came and made this Festival a success and the credit goes to all those who conceptualized, organized and participated in this event. We look forward to organizing many such events with which we can promote tourism, support artistic community and also educate people on various topics and issues especially “Environment”.
