There is a common phrase that we get to hear very often which goes like this, “Mountains are calling and I must go“. Well, it sounds like a cliche phrase if you don’t love mountains or haven’t developed a taste of hiking in mountains but if you feel the essence of it then you keep holding on to it.
So OneHimachal brings to you a new trek in collaboration with Lion Heart Expeditions who specialize in organizing jeep safari, mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, motorbike tours, bicycle tours treks and adventure sports in the Himalayas. So let us discuss the trip itinerary and other key points.
BHRIGU LAKE TREK

Bhrigu Lake in Winters
Bhrigu (4240m) is a prominent holy lake of the Kullu Region, located right of the Rohtang pass. The Legend says that Bhrigu Rishi meditated here and many local gods of the Kullu Region took a dip in its sacred water. Most famous among them is Guru Vashisht, who traveled to the lake at least once in a two or three year’s cycle. And still today many local people from Vashist make the steep ascent to visit this holy place. A forest of Fir, Oak and in higher altitude white Oak, surrounds Gulaba from where the trek starts. Later the trek will lead through green meadows and rhododendron and there might be a good possibility of seeing some of the huge vultures which are living there.
Steep ups and downs can make you a bit tired but are equally rewarding because of the breathtaking views of the Dhaula Dhar Range with high snow-covered mountains.
TRIP ITINERARY
Day 1: Manali to Gulaba then trek to Raualikholi (3770m) 4-5 hrs uphill
We drive 15km up to the Manali Rohtang highway to the meadows of Gulaba. The views of the upper Kullu Valley from here are quite spectacular. The trail towards the lake goes eastward and climbs through the dense forest of deodar. We will cross a small stream to the idyllic campsite of Raulikholi.
Day 2: Raulikholi to Bhrigu (4268m) to Panduropa (3450m) 5-6 hours
We ascent towards the lake slowly as the altitude can make us a little breathless. We cross a mountain stream and then keep climbing till we cross a mountain ridge beyond which lies the Bhrigu Lake. After having taken Lunch here we will descend down towards our next campsite. From here we will have breathtaking views of the Himalayan Mountains.
Day 3: Panduropa to Vashisht village then to Manali 4hrs downhill

Breathtaking, isn’t it?
The day will start with our steep descent to the village Vashisht. The descent offers a great view of the entire Kullu Valley. We walk through the forest and slowly emerge into apple orchards and finally reach the Vashisht hot spring, where we can take a hot bath, then go to Manali by a jeep.
